Case study Smith & Company
Smith & Company wants to give money to an orphanage in Uganda. It could just transfer the money and that would be the end of it. However, it could set up “Smith Company Foundation” using a GivingWorks micro-trust. As GivingWorks is a registered charity any donationit makes to the foundation would be entirely tax deductible. By doing this, Smith & Company will have their own foundation into which they can put money as often as they like and use it to give to other charitable causes around the world. The company may also wish to involve employees in raising funds and determining which causes the foundation wishes to support.
We offer an advisory service on the best way to plan corporate philanthropy as well as a “micro-foundation” which works in the same way as a private micro-trust which is explained in the “setting up a trust” section of this website.
