Philanthropy – an advice service

Our mission is to enable our clients to invest in changing lives.

At Truestone we believe that philanthropy is a responsibility and not a reaction. Many of our clients are generous, giving to charities both in the UK and internationally, however for most people ‘giving’ is an emotional response and often spontaneous. Truestone provides a well researched and structured process for charitable ‘giving’, screening charities for good governance, administrative capability and impact of each pound given.

We all want to make poverty history, free people from slavery, provide care for orphans, enable the sick to have access to medical care and save the planet.  But how do we know that our donations we are creating changed lives?

Truestone offers a professional service approach to charitable giving. We take the same care in selecting charities as we do in selecting investment funds for our client.

We are constantly reviewing the charities that we recommend to our clients and have selected charities in the following sectors.

  • Children
  • Aids
  • Environment
  • Education
  • Health Care
  • Trafficking

We have a portfolio of charities for you to choose from that is updated monthly.

An example of the charities we recommend is Hagar International

Hagar grew out of the need to respond to the pressing problems of vulnerable women and children in post conflict Cambodia. Since its founding, Hagar has worked to address the plight of extremely disadvantaged Cambodian women and children who come from a wide variety of backgrounds which include domestic violence, sexual exploitation, trafficking, dire poverty and social exclusion. Through a diverse group of creative and development programmes and three commercial enterprises (Hagar Design, Hagar Soya, and Hagar Catering and Facility Management), Hagar addresses the social, economic and educational needs of the women and children it serves through residential, economically empowering, educational and nutritional initiatives in an integrated, holistic approach.

Founded in 1994, Hagar has helped well over 100,000 mothers, children and family members. Hagar addresses the problems and challenges faced by disadvantaged Cambodian women and children through its wide variety of developmental programmes and a holistic strategy of personalised, long-term development which is comprised of four elements – Recovery of victims of abuse and exploitation through rest and long-term counselling in residential facilities, literacy and life-skills development and a range of educational and vocational training courses: Reintegration, continued counselling through regular follow-up visits and peer group support: Resilience, access to employment in one of Hagar’s three commercial enterprises or assistance in the establishment of other income generating activities: and Risk Reduction, through school support, awareness raising and early intervention initiatives.
